Bayer Technology Services at the "Optimizing Drug Development" Conference

From November 29 – December 1, 2006, Bayer Technology Services (BTS) will be presenting its products and services for optimizing drug development at the Congress of the European Federation for Pharmaceutical Sciences (EUFEPS) in Basel, Switzerland. The software products PK-Sim® and MoBi will be presented at the BTS stand, and the practical use of the software for the investigation of clinical issues will be explained on five posters showing example projects. PK-Sim® simplifies physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling by setting all essential model variables on the basis of input parameters that can be easily determined experimentally. With MoBi, multiple models generated with PK-Sim® can be coupled to form a complex parent-metabolite model or linked with mechanistic models of biological processes at the site of action. The products and services available from BTS support all stages of the drug research and development process – from the identification of a lead substance to clinical trials – and help to shorten development cycles.

The annual EUFEPS is one of the most important discussion forums for the pharmaceutical industry, academic institutions and regulatory agencies. The core theme is how the successful integration of systems biology, biomarkers, biosimulation and modeling can streamline drug development.
