Workshop Announcement for ACoP 2011

Pre- and post-meeting workshops on mechanistic multiscale modeling from whole-body pharmacokinetics and disease biology to molecular reaction networks

The pre-meeting workshop taking place on Saturday, April 2nd, will be a basic hands-on training focusing on mechanistic modeling of ADME processes. Starting with an introduction to whole-body PBPK modeling, workshop attendants will learn how to couple different models to e.g. investigate drug/metabolite or drug/drug interactions. The workshop will conclude with a case study involving a customized workflow to investigate PK in special populations like children to support pediatric investigation plans (PIP).

The post-meeting workshop – scheduled for April 7th – offers an in-depth training on mechanistic multiscale modeling. This will include the coupling of PBPK and PD models ranging from the description of molecular mechanism-of-action to clinical endpoints. Application examples will among others cover modeling of tumor growth and the assessment of pharmacogenomic differences on population scale.

In both workshops, application of mathematical methods such as classical derivation of point estimates and advanced statistical parameter identification approaches will be applied and discussed. The workshop attendants will learn how to work with our Computational Systems Biology Software Suite including PK-Sim®, MoBi® and the Toolboxes for MATLAB and R.

Participants are encouraged to bring their laptop computers to the workshops to ensure they can make the most of their participation. Regular enrollment closes December 17. Please go to the ACoP web site, http://www.go-acop.org and register there.
