Computational power for pharma research and life sciences

Bayer Technology Services (BTS) efficiently executes application projects in pharma research and life sciences due to its unique software platform and its broad experience gained in more than 100 application projects executed in following areas:

 Drug Discovery Support

  • Target Identification & Validation
  • Biomarker Analysis
  • Proof-of-Mechanism

Drug Development Support

  • Species Extrapolation
  • Extrapolation to Special Populations
  • Proof-of-Concept
  • Bioequivalence Studies

BTS divides an application project into three phases. During the first phase, sponsor data is integrated with publicly available information and a mechanistic model is established. In case of physiologically based pharmacokinetic models, this process is highly standardized as physiological information and the core model is created by means of PK-Sim. In case of signalling pathways and networks modeling, however, this phase is more or less work intensive, depending on the specific task.

During the second phase, the established model is applied for the simulation of scenarios that are of interest due to the current stage of a development project. During the third phase, the established model is utilized along the sponsor's whole development project by integrating newly available information and simulating scenarios that then become relevant. The established models can even be applied for all backup candidates and for all succeeding development projects in a specific indication.
